Jefferson River

Found in the state of Montana the Jefferson River starts off its life in the Twin Bridges area of the state before flowing seventy seven miles (one hundred and twenty four kilometres) down stream to form a tributary of the Missouri River.

The Jefferson River is formed at its source by the convergence of the Beaverhead River, The Boulder River and the Big Hole River.

Through its journey the river isn’t extremely wide or deep but does carry a lot of aquatic life such as Otters and also Trout and other fish.

It ends its life at the Missouri River near Three Forks not too far from the city of Bozeman.

For its full journey the river travels through some beautiful and almost wild lands that make the river a majestic site to visit. The river never leaves the state of Montana for its full length.

The river is a Grade I river and has many organisations wishing to protect the river and surrounding environments.
