Yarlung Zangbo River

The Yarlung Zangbo river starts of its life near the South Tibet Valley and Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon.

On its journey the river passes through Tibet in to India where its name changes and it becomes known by the name Dihang. At the end of its journey in India the Yarlung Zangbo River finishes its life as a tributary of the Nyang River.

The Yarlung Zangbo river has two records, these are that it is the worlds highest major river (there are some higher small tributaries) and it also passes through the worlds largest and deepest canyon call the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon.

Because of the height at which the river lives it is quite a inhospitable area meaning that many people do not get to see the full wonder of this great river during its journey in the Tibet region.

In total the river is two thousand and fifty seven kiloemetres in length making it the sixth largest river in China.
