Drava River

The Drava river starts of its life in Toblach in the Province of Bolzano-Bozen, Italy. Toblach is right on the border with Austria.

After starting at its source in Italy the Drava river flows into Austria passing through East Tirol and Carinthia before flowing over the border into Slovenia then Croatia where it runs along the border of Croatia and Hungary before finishing as a tributary to the Danube. Only ninety kilometres of the Drava river is navigable by boat.

The river flow for a total length of seven hundred and forty nine kilometres and has a total basin area of eleven thousandeight hundred and twenty eight square kilometres.

In ancient times the Drava river was called Dravus.
