Lesse River

The Lesse River starts of its life in the Ardennes of Belgium not far from the municipality of Libramont-Chevigny.

What is surprising about the Lesse River is that it flows mainly underground through many limestone caves, some of which can be seen from ground level and form a very important geological sites across Belgium.

The Lesse River is eighty nine kilometres in length and runs for its full length in Belgium. The river is a tributary of the Meuse river and flows into the river at a small village called Anseremme.

There are no large cities on the banks of the Lesse river when it is above ground, but some of the better known towns found on its river banks are Daverdisse, Han-sur-Lesse and Houyet.
